Demonstration board simplifies mixed-signal designs

13 March 2002 DSP, Micros & Memory

Microchip's PICDEM MSC1 demonstration board simplifies the design of mixed-signal applications. Designed for use with the PICmicro PIC16C781 and PIC16C782 configurable analog microcontrollers, the PICDEM mixed-signal controller 1 demonstration board lets users configure the microcontrollers' multiple digital and analog peripherals and download the configuration for quick evaluation. The system includes an evaluation package with an easy-to-use graphical user interface and code generator. Using the Code Generator, designers can create a complete configuration. Application-specific code can be added using Microchip's MPLAB Integrated Development Environment tool. The PICDEM MSC1 firmware allows designers to configure the inputs and outputs of each peripheral module; load and view the contents of the Special Purpose Registers; operate a dynamic conversion loop for scoping the DAC module output; or continuously monitor the ADC input channels.

The PIC16C781 and PIC16C782 configurable analog microcontrollers offer a single chip solution for embedded measurement and control applications. Target markets include almost any application where there is some form of closed loop control that may use firmware or hardware control.
