Designer has flexibility with new variable extender for switch series

13 March 2002 Switches, Relays & Keypads

MEC has introduced a new range of variable extenders that brings a high degree of flexibility to designers.

Sourcing different components with the same built-up height to suit the PCB design has, in the past, been a problem in the design of electronic equipment. The availability of these new variable height extenders, when used in combination with the numerous and highly functional keycaps in the 3F Multimec switch series, means that the designer is far less dependant on component size, allowing choice to be made purely in terms of specification.

The MEC extenders are available as standard, in six different heights (5-10 mm) with the overall height increasing in steps of 1 mm. Any height between 5-10 mm can be produced on request.

The overall height of the 3F Multimec switches with keycaps is 14,9 to 29,1 mm depending on the keycap design selected. The popular Unimec switch can also be used with this new extender.
