1,20 mm height FPC connectors meet low-profile requirements
13 March 2002
Interconnection
Molex has introduced a new series of 0,50 mm pitch SMT FPC connectors with profile heights of 1,20 mm. The connectors are ideal for compact and mobile applications such as cellular phones, digital cameras, PDAs and notebook PCs.
The series includes both top and bottom-mount zero insertion force (ZIF) styles to meet various application needs. The actuator on the bottom-mount version rotates up slightly to facilitate cable insertion. Both versions include a pre-hold cable feature in the housing design that keeps the FPC in place while the actuator is being closed. Metal solder tabs are also provided for PCB hold-down and strain relief on SMT tails. The connectors are available in 5-24 circuits.
Along with the low-profiles, the connectors are only 3,40 mm wide for further space savings. They are made of high-temperature housing material and delivered in embossed-tape packaging for pick-and-place requirements. The connectors are rated at 50 V and 0,5 A.
