Fibre-optic cable stripping tools

13 March 2002 Interconnection

Mt Vernon, NY - OK Industries' Micro-Strip series fibre-optic cable stripping tools are used to remove the various protective layers from a fibre-optic cable - including outer jacket, Kevlar yarn, buffer and coating - to expose the bare glass prior to splicing and connectorisation. The tools incorporate a patented system of opposing stripping blades which self-align around the glass to ensure concentric scoring and precision-stripped, nick-free fibre. The integral fibre channel maintains perpendicularity between the fibre and the stripping blades, further preventing core damage from flexing or bending. The versatile design allows for a variety of replaceable blades and blade guides to be used in a single tool, depending on the geometry of the cable into be stripped.

Battery and electric-powered thermal versions are also available for difficult applications including ribbon cable and tough coatings. Kevlar scissors and other accessories are also available.
