Small buzzers come taped

Passive Components
"Offering the smallest buzzers in the world means we can deliver them in tape and reel for automatic placement and processing." So says Murata, adding that these sounders can offer a major improvement in productivity for high-volume producers of PDAs, palm PCs, smartcard terminals, etc without any reduction in sound pressure level (SPL).
The company's PKMC16E has a 16 mm by 16 mm footprint and is packaged in trays. The new PKLCS1212E is 12 mm x 12 mm (an area reduction of 44%) and taped on reels of 1000 pieces. Both have a minimum SPL of 75 dB. These buzzers can be reflow soldered with Au terminals eliminating the need for lead and making conductive adhesive-mounting viable.
Piezo buzzers use less current than dynamic versions and produce no magnetic disturbance. SPL is specified at 4 kHz, with a 3 V peak-to-peak square wave at 10 cm, and the operating temperature range is -20°C to 70°C.
