Medium-gain antenna for M2M/IoT/POS

16 May 2018 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

Poynting’s engineering team has been working hard to bring the OMNI-280 to the market in the first quarter of 2018.

It replaces the popular OMNI-39 antenna which was being used primarily in point-of-sale (POS) systems and other machine-to-machine (M2M) applications.

The wideband single-input single-output (SISO) antenna covers LTE/4G/3G/2G frequency bands, with LTE coverage from 698 MHz to 2700 MHz. It is also 5G-ready, including CBRS bands from 3400 MHz to 3800 MHz. Housed in a lightweight and small form factor, the indoor and outdoor antenna features multiple mounting options, including magnetic, desk, wall or pole mounting.

The design of the OMNI-280 addresses applications in smart buildings that incorporate climate control, access control, security and irrigation. It can also be applied to smart power metering and gas and water metering. Other applications include digital signage, smart environmental and water systems, warehouse and logistics systems, industrial factory automation and M2M systems, and farming and agricultural M2M and IoT.
