The Surge platform from Swiss firm Haefely EMC is a versatile impulse test system using the latest techniques to simplify the test process and reduce test time. It can be configured simultaneously with up to 32 modules and coupling unit (CDNs). Modules are added on a plug-and-play basis, with no changes to firmware, software or existing hardware. An auto scan detects new hardware and adds it to the system library.

System architecture is claimed to impose no limits on impulse parameters and the Surge Platform is good for customer-specific applications. Surge Platform hardware can be integrated with existing Haefely EMC instrumentation using Windows-based application software, a range of options and accessories are available including 3-phase AC and DC CDNs rated up to 100 A, I/O and Telecom CDNs for analog and digital (ISDN) and antennas for impulse magnetic field testing.
