Calex has expanded its FXW, 1 kW full brick series with a 48 V and 53 V output model. As with the other models in the series, the 24S48.21FXW and 24S53.19FXW offer an ultra-wide 9 to 36 V d.c. input range making them ideal for 12 V and 24 V battery powered applications. The 48 Vout model offers up to 21 A of output current and the 53 Vout model offers up to 19 A of output current.
Both converters are isolated input to output and boast efficiencies of up to 96,9%. They operate at a fixed frequency of 200 kHz and follow conservative derating guidelines. Measuring 6,35 x 11,94 x 1,32 cm and offering excellent thermal performance with a metal baseplate, all FXW models are built in the USA and are backed by a five-year warranty.
The operating temperature range of the FXW is -40°C to +105°C and optional heatsinks are available for extended temperature use. Input to output isolation is 1500 V d.c. for all models. They also offer trim and sense, with an output voltage trim range of -40% to +10%. Mindful of battery powered applications, an on/off function is available to minimise the current draw from the batteries when the converter is in the off state. Output ripple and noise is 150 mV peak to peak for the 48 Vout FXW and 140 mV peak to peak for the 53 Vout model. Line and load regulation for both models is 0,1%, and over-current, short circuit and over-temperature protection comes standard.
