Spring-loaded contacts for medical equipment

9 November 2016 Test & Measurement

Ingun has leveraged its expertise in developing and manufacturing spring-loaded contacts for the test equipment sector, to deliver the same high precision, technical know-how and flexibility in regard to special projects for medical technology.

The increasing quality demands in medical technology require high-grade solutions. If conventional contacts cannot satisfy the application requirements, then the use of spring-loaded contacts from Ingun can prove beneficial. The design of the contact consists of a barrel, a contacting plunger and a spiral-shaped pressure spring. This design offers a wide range of advantages.

Short-stroke probes are used as battery contacts or as a transfer pin in charging units. The test probes not only have a very compact design but also a short installation height in conjunction with a high spring force. For use directly on the PC board, Ingun recommends the series GKS-967 with a closed barrel end, so that no solder can get into the barrel during the soldering process.

Should the test probes need to be exchanged at some time, they can be installed with a receptacle. Due to the extremely short design of the receptacle (only 2,5 mm long), exchange solutions are possible even when installed directly on the PC board. Special versions as well as non-magnetic variants are available on request.

Application examples include blood analysis instruments, measurement instruments for blood sugar level, portable instruments for monitoring and supervision, hearing aids, defibrillators, portable emergency units, MR/CT tomographs, ultrasound units and wheelchairs.
