Single arm benchtop fume extractor

21 November 2001 Electronics Technology

To meet the demands of flexible manufacturing and to create a more comfortable and safer environment in which repair and rework operators can work, Metcal introduced an innovative high performance benchtop fume extraction unit, the BVX-100.

This single arm/plenum benchtop fume extractor is a completely self-contained unit which can easily be moved from one assembly or rework station to another. Importantly, the unit's portability is achieved without any loss of high quality filtration performance. A powerful 85 m3/h airflow rate with three customised levels of filtration delivers superior fume and smells extraction performance.

For operators who require the additional range of capture provided by an arm, an innovative adapter transforms the plenum into an arm extraction system. Three filtration levels are available. For cleanroom quality filtration, a 99,997% efficient HEPA filter is available, while for heavy soldering and light dust generating assembly activities a highly effective bag and gas filter combination is offered. For light duty organic solvent and adhesive applications, a deep bed, carbon filter is recommended. Despite a powerful 85 W power rating, the BVX-100 has low operating noise of less than 55 dBA, this renders the extractor almost silent in use alongside other typical factory machinery and equipment.
