P24 Interconnect invests in high-end design software

23 March 2016 News

A thorough assessment of the needs of its current and prospective client base has resulted in P24 Interconnect investing in the VeSys Harness design software package from Mentor Graphics.

According to P24’s CEO, Quentin van den Bergh, this customer-centric attitude towards business forms part of the company’s strategic plan to become a leading interconnect products supplier in Africa. He explains that ultimate customer satisfaction is not just determined by fast turnaround times and good pricing, but includes an approach underpinned by professionalism. “The inclusion of the industry’s leading harness design and manufacturing software system into our design offering means that we will be able to further enhance the current services we provide to the market and clearly sets us apart from our competitors.”

VeSys Harness has a solid reputation in the market and is the product of choice for a number of aircraft and automotive manufacturers. “VeSys Harness is attractive to P24 Interconnect for a number of reasons, including the decreased turnaround time required to complete design and manufacturing projects. New harness design data is validated prior to the automatic generation of manufacturing documentation. This means that there is now unsurpassed accuracy and productivity in our harness design, which results in a decreased lead time and the prevention of manufacturing errors,” says Van den Bergh.

The new software has built-in intelligent libraries for components and symbols. The automated parts selector automatically configures and selects terminals, seals and wires for each connector, including allowances for add-ons and knock-offs. This provides decreased design times and eliminates the issues traditionally found in common design processes. The accuracy of the end product is further enhanced through the verification of component compatibility during the harness design and layout process.

Van den Bergh says that P24 interconnect is currently in the process of implementing the software, and will soon start transferring all of its drawing and harness designs to the VeSys Harness system, to ensure that current and new clients are able to achieve maximised benefits in the short term.
