OKW has extended its Minitec range of plastic handheld enclosures by adding a USB Type A intermediate ring and a belt strap eyelet.

Minitec is a modern range of ergonomic enclosures for remote control key fobs and other personal electronics. Applications include compact measurement devices, data recording, emergency systems, monitoring and alarm equipment – notably in the medical and social fields. Cases can be worn on lanyards, hand and wrist straps or attached to a belt or key ring. They are available in two shapes: rectangular Edge (E) or the more rounded Drop (D).

The new USB Type A intermediate ring has been designed for medium-sized Minitec Edge enclosures while the belt strap eyelet fits large Edge cases. The USB Type A ring is moulded from soft touch volcano (light grey) SEBS (TPE), and is supplied with one self-tapping screw for easy assembly.

The belt strap eyelet is moulded from lava (dark grey) ABS (UL 94 HB) and can accommodate a belt or strap up to 35 mm high and 4 mm thick, either lengthwise or crosswise. It is supplied with two self-tapping screws.

Minitec’s modular design offers users a huge range of shape, size and colour permutations. Each enclosure comprises a top and bottom section, separated by an intermediate ring. Features include a recess to protect a membrane keypad or product label. Edge also offers a smooth top for pushbuttons.

Both types of Minitec are available in three plan sizes (with Edge offering a choice of thicknesses for the intermediate rings): Edge ES 52 x 32 x 15 mm, EM 68 x 42 x 18/24 mm, EL 78 x 48 x 20/24/26 mm; Drop DS 51 x 32 x 13 mm, DM 70 x 44 x 16 mm, DL 84 x 53 x 19 mm.

Top and bottom sections are moulded predominantly from ABS (UL 94 HB) but infrared-permeable PMMA Plexiglas is available for remote control applications. Intermediate rings can be specified in ABS or soft touch SEBS (TPE) which also offers added protection from impact.
