Hamamatsu Photonics introduced a new photo IC diode, the S11154-201CT, with spectral response characteristics designed to closely match those of the human eye. This chip is designed for use as an energy saving sensor within large screen televisions, for example, and other general types of light level measurement.
Measuring only 2 x 1,25 mm in total, the chip boasts two active areas formed on the same chip so that the overall sensitivity is almost only in the visible range, along with reduced colour temperature errors. It also offers excellent linearity over a wide field of view.
