Infineon Technologies extended its OptiMOS 5 portfolio with 80 V and 100 V variants optimised for high switching frequencies such as in synchronous rectification applications for telecom and server power supplies, as well as in industrial applications such as solar, low-voltage drives and power adaptors. The devices have on-state resistance as much as 45% lower for 80 V and up to 24% lower for 100 V compared to the previous generation. Due to the lower resistance there is significantly less need to parallel parts, resulting in reduced material cost. In comparison to the previous generation, the OptiMOS 5 80 V variant offers 38% reduction in output charge and the 100 V variant a 25% reduction.
