Transducers for railway electronics

25 June 2014 Test & Measurement

Power electronics is essential to drive and control energy in rail transportation systems.

With 35 years’ experience in the application and development of isolated current and voltage measurements for traction power electronics, LEM offers a range of transducers providing control and protection to power converters and inverters that regulate energy to the electric motors for propulsion and to the auxiliaries for air-conditioning, heating, lighting, electrical doors, ventilation, etc. for onboard applications.

The company is also able to provide onboard or substation monitoring of DC power consumption via the EM4T II Energy Meter, in addition to solutions for trackside applications, eg, substations, voltage and current monitoring and control of points machines and the status of signalling equipment with new transducers optimised for these applications.

With more than 2500 current and voltage transducers in its portfolio, LEM offers a complete range of accurate, reliable and galvanically isolated devices for the measurement of currents from 0,1 A to 20 kA and voltages from 10 V to 6400 V in various technologies: open loop, closed loop, isolation amplifier and more.

The manufacturer’s transducers for railway applications are designed according to the most demanding international standards (EN50155, EN501241, NNF16101, 16102). It boasts worldwide ISO 9000 production and design centres and offers a five year warranty on all products.
