TRX Electronics secures bigger premises

25 June 2014 News

Easing the transition is the fact that the new property is only 2 kilometres from the current location in suburban Pretoria. That this is the fourth move in its history is a testament to how rapidly it has grown into its prominent position in the electronic components industry.

The company was born in 1996 from founder Frank Schneider’s frustration at not being able to source certain components locally for RF engineering projects he was working on. He took it upon himself to establish relationships with the overseas suppliers of these products and when, in 2000, the opportunity arose to represent global component distributor TTI in South Africa, he brought his wife Pat (armed with her own wealth of experience in component sales) on board to help grow the business.

With Frank having retired and Pat soon to follow suit, the couple have handed over the reins to Duane Jordaan (who will head up finances and purchasing) and Rudi Opperman (sales and stores). This new division of labour reflects the physical separation of stores and offices that the new, bigger premises permits.

Reminiscing over some of the milestones in TRX’s evolution, Pat Schneider commented that one of its greatest success stories was acquiring the Mouser agency two years ago, which was right up there with being appointed an official TE Connectivity reseller earlier this year.

As for the future, in addition to the move, the company’s new e-commerce website is scheduled to go online during the last quarter of 2014, and should make it simpler and more convenient for customers to browse and order products.
