Otto Wireless Solutions has added the Huawei and AirlinkWiFi.Net product lines to its growing portfolio of wireless products.
Commenting on the move, Otto Wireless’ general manager, Christopher Viveiros, said “The inclusion of Huawei into our offering is somewhat of a step away from industrial products, which have traditionally been synonymous with Otto Wireless Solutions.
“It was sparked by two things: firstly a realisation that we have a strong industrial product offering, meaning that in order to continue to grow, we needed to add a commercial offering into the mix; and secondly, many of our traditional industrial customers are moving towards integrating commercial products into their solutions because those commercial products are starting to offer product performance which bolsters their solution offering into their market.
Viveiros said that products like tablets and smartphones have also been brought on board, as the company has realised that many of its customers are investing in Android-based applications, and often provide their installation teams with dedicated Android devices, which are used to communicate with their end equipment via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
He went on to explain that the fact that the entry-level SIM800H GSM module now includes Bluetooth as standard has also been taken into consideration, as many customers are keen to use this Bluetooth interface for installation and setup purposes.
The second line, AirlinkWiFi.Net, also brings a host of finished products, specifically Wi-Fi products, into the Otto Wireless stable.
The first products to be put through local type approval have been the manufacturer’s domestic and professional Wi-Fi repeaters. One (Ultramotto-W) simply plugs into a 220 V a.c. wall socket, while its counterpart (Ultrasky-CPE) is installed as a permanent fixture on the ceiling, and looks similar to a smoke detector.
In both cases, quick and simple deployment and installation provides customers with a means to either boost their existing Wi-Fi coverage, or plug a LAN cable into the device and generate a Wi-Fi network. Both devices have reportedly been well-received in the industry.
