DEHN’s modular DEHNguard M YPV SCI...(FM) surge arresters are specifically designed for protecting equipment in photovoltaic (PV) systems. The innovative, patented three-step DC switching device makes the arresters especially safe so that they fulfil the requirements for modern PV systems.
With DEHN’s modular Red/Line family design, the module locking system fixes the protection module firmly in the base part of the arrester. Neither shock nor vibration affect the safe connection of the protection module. By pressing the user-friendly module release button, the protection modules can be replaced without tools.
Every protective circuit of the DEHNguard M YPV SCI ... (FM) and every protection module is mechanically coded to avoid incorrect insertion by the installer or user.
To fulfil the specific requirements for photovoltaic systems, the approved safety philosophies of the fault-resistant Y circuit, consisting of three protective circuits of the varistor, and the combined disconnection and short-circuiting device are integrated in a single module. This synergy reduces the probability of an arrester failure which has to be considered in photovoltaic systems.
The surge arrester is protected against overloads, thus eliminating a fire risk to the system. Even in the case of a DC arc in system voltages from 150 V up to 1200 V, it is extinguished immediately and without risk, which is not possible with standard disconnection mechanisms.
Fire protection is a top priority of the DEHNguard M YPV SCI. A fuse, particularly developed for photovoltaic systems, is integrated into the short-circuit path to ensure safe electrical isolation in case of a fault. This design combines both surge and fire protection.
