Interconnection
ITT Industries, Network Systems & Services has launched a 10 GB fibre-optic cabling solution that enables a high-bandwidth, scalable backbone consisting of both multimode and singlemode fibres. It incorporates the first multimode fibre-optic cable to comply with the new ISO/IEC OM3 standard.
Using the lowest cost active equipment, this high-bandwidth optical solution is designed to provide companies with technologically advanced and future-protected networks. In addition, being resilient it is flexible enough to be used in backbone or fibre to the desktop applications, with a wide range of connectivity options.
The 50/125 µm, multimode solution provides a 2,0 GHz bandwidth fibre channel and guarantees data transmission from 10 Mbps to 10 Gbps, using low-cost 850 nm opto-electronics. In addition, the solution provides extended transmission distances of 1000 m for Gigabit Ethernet, which allows for diverse routing designs and network resilience.
