Thanks to the Internet and the steady rise in data transmission rates, the trend of installing 'bandwidth-friendly' fibre-optic networks to the desk has become increasingly widespread. Along with these high data transmission rates, the significance of networks for a company has also increased, becoming one of their most valuable installations.
Because modern networks have gained such significance, their maintenance requirements are especially high, since any network failure might cause damage amounting to millions. Fibre-optic technology has become almost a matter of course today. This often obscures the fact that optical transmission technology demands absolute precision.
The handling of fibre-optic connectors, whose fibres have a light-transmitting core half as thick as a human hair, requires extreme care. Users accustomed to handling common RJ45 copper connectors often do so nonchalantly - simply unaware of the effects that dust and scratched ferrule faces will have on the miniature world of fibre optics. Even the slightest contamination of the connector face may massively obstruct the flow of light or even cripple a network. Touching the connector face, neglecting the cleaning of connectors, or mating the connectors carelessly may render fibre-optic connectors useless.
More rugged design
The increased presence of fibre-optic transmission systems at the desk calls for a more rugged system design in order to offset or prevent errors. This is where the new E-2000 cabling building cabling system comes in. E-2000 cabling is based on Huber+Suhner's E-2000 connector, a component that has gained wide acceptance in the field of telecoms, having already successfully passed its acid test in high-end applications.
The E-2000 offers a very wide range of significant advantages. With a unique all-metal protective cap, the E-2000 can be mated blindly. This means that awkward mating will not scratch the connector, and touching the sensitive face will not cause any contamination either. In addition, laboratory tests have shown the E-2000 to require less cleaning than conventional connectors. Also, the full-ceramic ferrule guarantees high fibre guiding stability and thereby dependable and durable transmission values.
Installation-friendly
E-2000 cabling has been developed as an easy-to-install total system. This helps both cabling planners and installation engineers to save time and money. For example, the installation components included in the supply consider all critical details likely to increase transmission performance.
The FTTD receptacles from Suhner Fiberoptic can be integrated in any environment and guarantee the required minimum bending radius of 25 mm for the glass fibre. In 19" fibre-optic distribution systems, the E-2000 cabling distribution boxes can receive up to 24 fibres, ensuring high packing density and low space costs. Another simplification of installation work is achieved by the special E-2000 duplex clamp. This combines two simplex connectors in a single duplex connector, thereby allowing the transmission line to be cross-jointed whenever the need should arise.
The product range includes cross-patch cables for all fibre-optic connector families, enabling the optimal connector to be applied at any point in the network. The E-2000 system can also be combined with the pre-assembled, ready-to-install Masterline cabling system.
Huber+Suhner's EASY-FIT technology can be applied to E-2000. This process allows quick and easy assembly of fibre- optic connectors in the field, eliminating the need for complicated installation procedures.
