Optical Schmitt triggers

1 August 2001 Opto-Electronics

Osram Optosemiconductors offers a wide range of optical photodiodes with integrated Schmitt trigger circuits for digital output applications. These devices are available in a variety of packages, including SMT, THT, reflective sensors and interrupters. Because their output is digital, these Schmitt trigger devices interface directly with digital circuits. This saves space on the PCB by combining three discrete components (photodiode, amplifier and Schmitt trigger) into one.

Schmitt trigger devices can be used in many different applications such as counting items on production lines, checking filling levels, cleaning noisy signals (pulse forming) and controlling machinery through the use of light barriers.

Devices offered are:

* Mini sidelooker and lens, compact design, high sensitivity, daylight cut-off filter, 840 to 1080 nm.

* Metal can, TO 18, hermetically sealed, high sensitivity, 400 to 1100 nm.

* Dual-in-line, surface-mount technology, high speed (5 Mbps), 500 to 900 nm.

* Smart dual-in-line, surface-mount technology, 400 to 1100 nm.

* Reflective sensor, encoder, typical threshold current 0,6 mA, daylight cut-off filter.

* Interrupter, encoder, typical threshold current 3 mA, daylight cut-off filter.
