USB and Ethernet interfacing for data acquisition devices make them convenient to use. They can be plugged into a PC or network without having to shut the system down or dismantle the PC to insert a card. Ethernet has the advantage that the data acquisition device can be situated remotely from the PC and communicate over the network. Both USB and Ethernet allow multiple data acquisition devices to be connected to the PC simultaneously.
The USB2851 is a data acquisition card that offers both USB and Ethernet connectivity. This means it can be used close to a PC in a laboratory, for instance, or as far away as the Ethernet network runs within a factory or building. The unit has a sampling speed of 500 thousand samples per second over 16 channels with 16-bit resolution. Its small form factor means that it can easily be built into instruments.
The card’s analog input supports ±10 V, ±5 V, ±2,5 V, 0–10 V and 0–5 V ranges with 0,01% measurement accuracy. Analog output ranges include ±10 V, ±5 V,
0–10 V and 0–5 V. Eight digital inputs and eight digital outputs are also provided.
