High-wattage power supply

12 December 2011 Power Electronics / Power Management

Mean Well has introduced a high-wattage power supply for use in industrial applications such as LCD panel burn-in systems, IC testing equipment, instrumentation, telecom, data storage, laser carving machines and factory automation.

The 2000 W, 1U profile RSP-2000 boasts an advanced circuit topology which enables efficiency up to 92%. Featuring 1,3 W/cm³ power density, the unit can provide full output power at up to 50°C. With its wide range trimming function, output voltage can be adjusted from 40% to 115% of the rated value (60%-115% for 12 V).

The RSP-2000 implements an advanced digital control technique that employs a microprocessor to deal with the power management task. Users can increase the output power to up to 7200 W using the built-in parallel function which has up to four units sharing current. The power supply uses constant current limiting plus delay shutdown as overload protection, which enables it to power capacitive/inductive loads and still provide full protection for the user’s system.

Other built-in functions include remote sense, remote ON/OFF control, 12 V/0,8 A and 5 V/0,3 A auxiliary output and DC OK alarm signal output. The RSP-2000 complies with UL, CUL, TUV, CB and CE regulations.
