EEMB has developed a range of LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) batteries to meet the requirements of telecom base station backup power systems.
These systems typically rely on valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) batteries, which are costly to maintain and need to be replaced every three years. VRLA batteries are also typically heavy, bulky and are prone to high self-discharge.
The new LiFePO4 batteries from EEMB have a nominal voltage of 3,2 V and energy density up to 140 Wh/kg. Their cycle life is about 2000 times when charged at 0,5 C and discharged at 1 C, with a discharge capacity more than 80% of initial capacity after 2000 cycles. They operate in temperatures between
-10°C and 60°C and are designed for high reliability, having experienced no fire or explosion in overcharge tests at voltages up to 30 V and in short circuit tests. All raw materials of the batteries are environmentally friendly, non-poisonous and non-hazardous.
