Surface mount HCSL oscillators

28 September 2011 Electronics Technology

Euroquartz is offering two new ranges of high-speed current steering logic (HCSL) oscillators for use in high-volume applications.

The new HCK5361 and HCK5761 differential HCSL oscillators are highly competitive and deliver higher frequencies compared with surface acoustic wave (SAW)-based oscillator designs. The new parts offer jitter performance of less than 1 ps (12 kHz to 20 MHz), an operating temperature range of

-40°C to +85°C and provide low ageing.

Specifications common to both ranges include frequency range from 40 MHz to 200 MHz, and 2,5 V or 3,3 V supply. Femtosecond integrated phase jitter of 200 fs is typical, as is an ultra-low phase noise of -138 dB/Hz at 10 kHz offset.

HCK5361 parts are housed in 5 x 3,2 x 1,2 mm, 6-pad surface mount packages while HCK5761 parts are in 7 x 5 x 1,8 mm housings. Ageing for both types is less than ±3 ppm per year maximum at 25°C ambient temperature. Supplied on 16 mm tape, 8,0 mm pitch, 180 mm diameter reel, the oscillators are available in quantities of 1000 pieces per reel.

Applications include reference clocks for servers, SAS, SATA, graphics cards, network switch/router, telecom switches and media boxes.
