Broadband conical inductors

17 August 2011 Passive Components

Gowanda Electronics recently launched its inaugural line of ultra-broadband conical inductors. The new ‘C’ conical series offers standard through-hole, flying lead (self-leaded) and surface-mount (SMT) designs in a variety of sizes with up to 150 W power capability, excellent co-planarity and robust construction.

Typical operation is from 40 MHz to 40 GHz. RoHS, leaded or gold plating terminations are available. Operating temperature is -55°C to +155°C and SMT products are available on tape and reel.

Gowanda is able to provide broadband conicals with application-specific core configurations, electrical parameters, footprints, frequencies, wattage and wiring options (copper, gold plate, specialty). The parts’ 3-in-1 design (replacing three inductors with one conical) reduces the number of components, thereby saving board space. The conicals also provide a predictable frequency response and repeatable RF performance. The broadband response of the coil is attributed to its precision winding, wire selection and coil configuration.

Specific communication applications for the inductors include bias Ts (filter signals, remove noise), broadband chip manufacturing, communication platforms, high-frequency, microwave circuitry, RF test setups, test and measurement and transmission amplifiers.
