I/O-to-PCB connectors

22 June 2011 Interconnection

Omnetics offers a low-profile connector solution for transitioning wires from an I/O connector to a printed circuit board. The PS1 and SSB series of single-row connectors with micro latch provide a simple, robust solution. The nickel plated, beryllium copper latch engages automatically with an audible click. Disengagement is achieved with the press of a finger; no tools are necessary.

The PS1 connector is typically fixed to the PCB using mounting screws. The leads on the connector are available in SMT and through-hole solder versions. The mating SSB connector can be purchased with solder cups or colour coded wire and can be easily attached to the back of standard I/O connectors. Omnetics can also provide the I/O connector to SSB as a complete harness per customer specifications.

The PS1/SSB family of connectors uses Omnetics’ flex pin contact system. These gold plated contacts are the same high quality contacts as used in MIL-DTL-83513 Micro-D connectors, for which Omnetics is a QPL source. The contacts are spaced at a compact 1,27 mm pitch, reducing the need for large amounts of board space. The connectors are capable of carrying up to 3 A per contact and come in pin counts from 2 to 48 positions. Omnetics offers a wide selection of COTS versions of these connectors.
