Scroll wheel switches

8 June 2011 Switches, Relays & Keypads

C&K Components has developed a new series of consumer and navigation scroll switches capable of three or seven functions.

Available in two versions, the TSW A series is a 3-way scroll wheel switch that provides one central select and a 2-way 360° rotation. The TSW B series is a 7-way switch featuring one central select and a 2-way 360° rotation with additional four tactile directions on the outside ring. The components feature push and rotary functions with 24 detents at 12 pulses.

The TSW A series has a 21 mm diameter and a maximum operating force rated at 60 g-cm for rotary actuation and 220 g to 50 g for push actuation. The TSW B series has 34,4 mm diameter and a rotary actuating force of 50 g-cm with a maximum push actuating force of 300 g. This switch also comes with the cosmetic button already assembled.

The compact switches offer through-hole termination, decoration options and easy installation, making them suitable for remote controls, desk phones, keyboards, printers, entertainment systems and white goods. They have an electrical life of 1 million cycles with a maximum contact resistance of 300 m. Their electrical rating is 1 mA at 10 V d.c. and operating temperature ranges from 0°C to +40°C.
