Triple LDOs

27 April 2011 Power Electronics / Power Management

Micrel’s MIC5373/83/74/84 series is a new family of triple low-dropout regulators (LDOs). The products feature three 200 mA LDOs, an optional fourth LDO output for a real-time clock (RTC), integrated power on reset (POR), user-defined voltage monitoring capabilities, adjustable POR delay time and manual reset.

The new 200 mA triple LDO family is designed for the demanding needs of battery powered electronic applications including smartphones, personal navigation devices (PND), portable media players (PMP), digital still cameras (DSC), notebook computers, personal digital assistants (PDA) and other handheld instruments.

The MIC5374/84 is the full featured version, which also includes an ultra low quiescent current LDO for powering real-time clocks, all in a small 2,5 x 2,5 mm Thin MLF package. The MIC5374/84 offers fast transient response of 40 mV while maintaining low noise and a high power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) for powering sensitive RF circuitry like GPS.

The MIC537x family is a μCap LDO design operating with very small ceramic output capacitors. This series offers full protection circuitry including current limit and thermal shutdown protection, and an operating junction temperature range of 40°C to 125°C.
