Open-frame power supplies

13 April 2011 Power Electronics / Power Management

XP Power announced the launch of the ECP150 series of open-frame 150 W AC-DC power supplies. Measuring just 101,6 x 50,8 x 32 mm, the series complies with UL/EN/IEC60950-1 and UL/EN/IEC60601-1 safety standards for medical and IT equipment.

In addition, the units have a no-load input power of less than 0,5 W and typical efficiency of 91%, helping the end equipment comply with internationally recognised energy efficiency initiatives.

Operating from a universal input of 90 to 264 V a.c., there are five single-output models available within the range, covering the nominal outputs of +12, +15, +24, +28 and +48 V d.c. A 12 V/0,5 A output is also provided to power an external fan if required. Up to 100 W output is achieved by convection cooling alone, and with only 15 cfm of forced cooling the full 150 W output is available.

The ECP150 has a wide range of operating temperature, from -20°C to + 70°C, with full power output available up to +50°C with derating above; no additional heat sinking is required. The units comply with the EN55022 level B standard for conducted noise without the need for additional filtering components. Over-voltage, overload and short circuit protection features are included as standard across the range.
