Class D audio driver

2 February 2011 Analogue, Mixed Signal, LSI

International Rectifier introduced the IRS2053M 200 V driver IC for use in Class D audio applications including high-performance home theatre systems and car audio amplifiers requiring a compact footprint. Based on a Class D audio amplifier topology, the chip integrates three channels of high-voltage half-bridge drivers with PWM modulators. The device’s set of protection features includes programmable bidirectional current sensing to protect high- and low-side MOSFETs from over-current conditions. Other key features include logic compatible input and floating PWM input. The IC is supplied in a 48-lead MLPQ package.
