Single-output power supplies

2 February 2011 Power Electronics / Power Management

Mean Well introduced its new generation of 210 W and 350 W single-output, enclosed type power supply – NES-200, NES-350, SE-200 and SE-350 series – to replace its existing models - the S-201(200 W), S-210 (210 W), S-320 (320 W) and S-350 (350 W).

With an economical circuit design and manufacturing process using lead-containing solder, the NES-200/350 series targets regions where RoHS compliance is not required. Meanwhile, with upgraded components and RoHS compliant production process, the SE-200 and SE-350 series can satisfy markets that request lead-free products. The new generation power supplies have the same fan location and mounting holes as the prior generation, so that mechanical design changes are unnecessary.

With non-PFC design for lower cost, the new power supplies exhibit 300 V a.c. input surge immunity for 5 seconds. The NES/SE-200 employ a fanless design and can be operated between -20°C and +50°C ambient temperature. The NES/SE-350 are equipped with long life DC fan, allowing them to operate at up to 60°C.

Standard functions include protection from short circuit, overload, over-voltage and over-temperature, built-in constant current limiting circuit and LED indicator for power on.
