AAEON has launched a new EPIC single board computer (SBC). The EPIC-QM57 is sized at 115 x 165 mm which falls between the 3,5” subcompact board and a Mini-ITX motherboard.
The board supports Intel Core i7/i5 processors with up to two 204-pin SODIMM sockets to support 8 GB of DDR3 800/1066 system memory. For high-speed network communications, the EPIC-QM57 features the Intel 82577LM and Intel 82574L chipsets which support two Gigabit Ethernet ports. Moreover, this model deploys PCI-104 and PCIe/104 connectors as well as a Mini Card slot to offer flexible options for expansion.
To fulfil diverse demands for versatile applications, the EPIC-QM57 equips I/O interfaces such as six USB2.0 ports, four COM ports, mouse, keyboard and 8-bit programmable digital I/O. In addition, two SATA connectors and one Type 2 CompactFlash socket offer options for operating system and storage space that are prevalent in the embedded markets. For video support, the EPIC-QM57 can show simultaneous displays through the CRT and the 24-bit dual-channel LVDS LCD connectors at up to 1920 x 1200 resolution. DVI can also be supported as an option instead of the LVDS and the SBC can share video memory with system memory up to 512 MB. Two-channel HD audio is also incorporated onto the board.
