The ChipCorder ISD15D00 is a low-cost voice playback device from Nuvoton Technology.
The IC features a 3 V regulator for external Flash memory and its integrated architecture enables 2,7 to 5,5 V operation; a 1 W speaker driver eliminates the need for an amplifier. In automotive applications, the device can provide audio-quality voice playback to vehicles' entertainment, traffic-information and warning systems. It adheres to the strict AEC-Q100 stress-test qualification.
The IC has digital decompression, comprehensive memory management and integrated analog/digital audio signal paths. It interfaces with serial Flash memory to provide a two-chip solution for non-volatile audio playback. Additionally, its message management feature is designed to simplify code development for playback-only applications. The IC can take digital audio data via its I²S digital audio interface or through an SPI. When I²S input is selected, it replaces the analog audio inputs and supports sample rates of 32, 44,1 or 48 kHz, depending on clock configuration.
There are also built-in analog audio inputs, analog audio line driver and speaker driver output. An aux-in analog audio input has a fixed gain configured by SPI command. Aux-in can directly feed through to the analog outputs, as well as mix with the DAC output and then feed through to the outputs. Programmable GPIO allows designers to trigger combinations of script macros with audio files and to enable user-initiated audio.
