Two-port serial PCI card

29 September 2010 Computer/Embedded Technology

The PCI-1603 from Advantech is a universal card offering a range of high-speed interfacing options ranging from 50 bps to 230,4 Kbps and isolation against harsh environments. Users can individually configure each port between the popular RS232 and noise-resistant current-loop. The utilisation of 16PCI1952 UARTs with on-chip 128-Byte FIFO buffers offers fast and reliable data transmission. This makes the board suitable for high-speed serial I/O applications under multitasking environments.

The serial card fulfils various application needs for distant transmission and isolation. It has two ports, each individually configurable to a different transmission rate and mode. For current-loop transmission mode, the speed can be up to 57,6 Kbps. Following the universal PCI interface, the PCI-1603 plugs into a 3,3 V or 5 V PCI slot. It is designed with 3000 V d.c. isolation for both RS232 and current-loop and industrial-grade working temperature tolerances. The I/O address is automatically assigned by PCI plug-and-play, offering users full compatibility with Windows applications.

The PCI-1603 is suitable for shop floors, warehouses, pharmaceutical/food process control, water treatment processes, transportation management systems, facility management systems, environment monitoring systems and more.
