Modular floor-standing cabinets

Elen Enclosures has launched the new Spacial SF range of modular cabinets, manufactured by Schneider Electric Universal Enclosures.

The Spacial SF range replaces the Sarel Spacial 6000 cabinet system, with Schneider Electric branding replacing the former Sarel brandname. The cabinet system is suited for protection and installation of equipment for automation, electrical distribution, electronics, instrumentation, data applications, etc.

The new cabinet system introduces a design with a uniquely shaped frame profile, designed for symmetry and rigidity. With a total of 18 folds in the sheet metal providing linear strength, it is claimed to be the strongest enclosure frame profile on the market. The system boasts versatility in assembly with the ability to mount doors on any and all sides, and cabinet suites can be assembled and coupled in any direction, for example in L-shaped configurations to continue around corners.

Time-saving features include new quick-release hinges allowing fast removal or installation of doors. The pre-punched frame profiles allow quick fixing of hinges, cross rails, 19” racks and other accessories by means of self-tapping Torx screws, yet alternative facility remains for mounting accessories via cage-nuts as in the past. Captive screws supplied already in place as standard allow rapid installation of the side panels.

Efficiency is optimised in many ways, including features such as plastic sliders on the bottom of chassis plates, and two guide rails in the floor of the enclosure as standard. These allow easy fitting of the chassis plate in its equipped or unequipped form. The guide rails are removable and double up as cross rails that can be used elsewhere in the cabinet, for cable management or mounting of other equipment. Cost saving by the client can be achieved by eliminating the need for plinth side panels in joined cabinets and by a choice of joining options. A comfortable and aesthetically pleasing door handle is supplied as standard.

The Spacial SF range is a modular system available in kit form, with the basic frame made up of vertical uprights joined with top and bottom frames, screwed together with connections of sintered steel. Standard colour is RAL7035 light grey with other colours available on request. The kit-form nature offers cost savings in transport and the system is easily assembled on site or prior to delivery. Elen Enclosures offers free assembly service prior to delivery or on site within Gauteng and surrounds.

The Spacial SF system provides a versatile solution to all floor-standing enclosure applications, and certification to IP55 rating ensures protection of the installation.

Alongside the launch of the Spacial SF modular system comes the new Spacial SM monobloc cabinet range. These enclosures are made of a base of single piece body with a welded rear panel and front door. New frontal profiling of the frame enhances rigidity. Many of the time saving features and accessories of the SF are repeated in the SM range.

The new SF range will be on display at Elen Enclosures’ stand (hall 7, stand G21) at Electra Mining 2010 to be held at Nasrec from 4–8 October.
