Mean Well has introduced a new 40 W, single-output device to meet the growing demands of miniaturisation and high wattage applications for module type DC-DC converters. With dual-in-line packaging, these converters are designed to comply with the standard pin assignment in the market. Standard features include 2:1 wide input range, 1500 V d.c. input/output isolation, short circuit/ overload /over-voltage protections, low ripple noise, remote ON/OFF control, remote sense, trimming output (±10%) and CE/FCC compliance.
The SKA40 series boasts up to 92% efficiency and can be operated at full load by free air convection cooling from -40°C to +60°C ambient temperature, and up to +80°C by derating the output load. Thanks to the low-profile enclosure design, system designers have flexibility as to power supply layout on their main PCB. In addition, fully encapsulated packaging can help the converter withstand the influence of dust and moisture in harsh environments, making it suitable for industrial control, telecom/datacom and distributed power architecture applications.
