Phoenix Contact has added two new mini plug connectors with fast connection technology to the product range available for the PTSM SMT mini PCB terminal with spring cage connection. The new PTPM pierce contact connector simplifies the connection of flexible individual conductors up to AWG #22. In spite of the small design, the conductors can be connected in pairs by simply pressing with the thumb, without the need to strip conductors. This makes these plug connectors especially suitable for quickly connecting up Ethernet cables.
In spite of its small design, the PTSM spring cage connector can handle currents of up to 6 A. The push-in spring cage technology allows both rigid and flexible conductors up to 0,75 mm² to be quickly connected. Rigid conductors are just stripped and directly inserted into the plug connector. A screwdriver is used to release the connection. Both connectors, as well as the base housing, are only 5,0 mm high, facilitating the design of flat modules and boards. The base housings are built for use in SMT processes, require just a small amount of space on the PCBs and are shipped in tape feeder packs.

If you look across the broader electromagnetic spectrum, the selection of the 3 kHz to 300 GHz frequency range for RF signals is a result of a balance between propagation characteristics, data transmission requirements, regulatory allocations, and the compatibility of electronic components and devices.
