Coaxial connectors for outdoor use

3 March 2010 Interconnection

Radiall recently expanded its line of N and 7/16 composite connectors with over 20 new variations of plugs, jacks and receptacles as a lightweight, low-cost alternative to brass connectors. Designed for harsh outdoor telecom applications, these new connectors are manufactured with corrosion-free composite materials that are UV resistant and meet IEC 68-2-5 and IEC-68-2-9.

The unique single-piece design permits the contact pressure to be equally distributed by diverting the entire tightening torque force through pressure on the ground contact junction. This improves the intermodulation level (eg, IMP3<

-125 dBm for 7/16 receptacles) and results in better stability than previous connector technology. Outstanding electrical performance includes a low operating VSWR, 1,10 max up to 7,5 GHz for 7/16 receptacles.

Designed to be installed in telecommunications equipment such as remote radio heads, antennas, filters and more, the modular design of these N and 7/16 connectors offer multiple termination possibilities to fit many other applications using a standard composite outer housing.
