Building a server room for every IT installation is not always a practical reality. In a decentralised network one sometimes ends up compromising on the quality of the environment for servers and networking equipment.
The primary enemies of electronic equipment are heat, dust and moisture. An increase in temperature of just 10°C can halve the lifespan of an IT investment.
Rittal’s ‘Smart Package’ has been developed to deal with these challenges. An industrial strength cabinet with an IP level of 54 can handle difficult environments and will keep dust and moisture out. The temperature of the rack is controlled using the Rittal Therm airconditioning unit. No plumbing is required and the unit is said to be practically maintenance free. The cooling unit only needs an electrical connection and is capable of handling a heat load of up to 4 kW.
A special nanoceramic coating prevents dust from collecting on the unit while a patented condensate evaporator eliminates the need to manage condensate discharge. Rittal’s CMC monitoring system allows remote control and monitoring of access control (open locks remotely and receive alarms for unauthorised access), temperature monitoring, video surveillance, smoke detection, power supply monitoring and humidity. A built-in UPS takes care of poor power quality and fire suppression can also be fitted inside the rack.
