In-service OTDR for CWDM

11 November 2009 Test & Measurement

Exfo has released the FTB-7400E Metro/CWDM OTDR (optical time domain reflectometer), an OTDR test solution that can offer as many as eight wavelengths in a single test platform designed for in-service troubleshooting of coarse wavelength-division multiplexing (CWDM) networks.

By combining two one-slot FTB-7400E OTDR modules in the FTB-200 compact platform, service providers benefit from an effective eight-wavelength solution, which contributes to maintaining high quality of service (QoS) by enabling mux/demux testing and ultimately reducing time to locate faults in a network. The FTB-200 platform also offers a CWDM-calibrated power meter for precise power readings at each wavelength of the network. Moreover, operators seeking an integrated CWDM turn-up solution can combine the FTB-7400E with Exfo’s FTB-5420S optical spectrum analyser into the newly launched FTB-500 four-slot platform.
