Ethernet cable crimper and tester

Barlow Communications introduced the Hobbes Tooltest, a small handheld cable map tester for testing Ethernet twisted pair cable for wiring continuity, opens, shorts and miswires.

With a push of a button, the unit will automatically test cable and indicate the result of the cable’s pin to pin configuration. With its combination of a crimper tool and cable tester in one, it makes for a small and convenient tool.

The tester can be used for both UTP and STP cables, and its test mode offers selection between ‘run once’ and ‘test repeatedly’ settings. Single- and multiwired cable crimping is possible with modular crimping plugs for RJ45, RJ12 and RJ11. The crimper tool integrates cable stripper and cutter, and the cable tester can be detached from the tool.
