The PB137 from STMicroelectronics is a positive voltage regulator able to provide 1,5 A at 13,7 V and is intended to function as a charger for lead-acid batteries.
Considering that it only requires two external capacitors, the device makes for a very simple and effective charging circuit.
The PB137 features a reverse leakage current of 10 μA maximum. It is available in a TO-220 package and employs internal current limiting, thermal shut-down and safe area protection. If adequate heat-sinking is provided, the device can deliver over 1 A output current. DC input voltage as high as 40 V is supported, with operation up to 150°C junction temperature. Thermal resistance from junction to case is 3°C/W, and 50°C/W junction to ambient. Long term stability over a 1000 hour period at a junction temperature of 125°C is 0,5%.
