28 V DC-DC converter modules

22 July 2009 Power Electronics / Power Management

Vicor has announced the addition of eight wide-input micro DC-DC converters to the 28 V d.c. input family.

These models have nominal output voltages ranging from 3,3 to 48 V d.c. and a maximum power of 100 W (50 W at 3,3 VOUT and 5 VOUT, and 100 W at 12, 15, 24, 28, 36 and 48 VOUT).

These modules target either 12 V or 24 V applications, such as MIL-COTS or commercial battery systems in vehicles. They also meet the European standard for electronic equipment used in rolling stock – EN50155 – and can be used in a variety of vehicle or man-portable applications including lighting, communications, portable test equipment, and display and control systems.

With efficiency up to 82%, the converters operate from 28 V nominal input with an input range of 9 to 36 V. These models are available in four environmental grades – with operating temperatures as low as -55°C – with six pin options and three baseplate options. They are also available in RoHS-compliant variants, and measure a compact 57,9 x 36,8 x 12,7 mm, with a wide trim range of 10% to 110% of nominal output voltage.
