XP Power has released the ECP20 series of compact, low profile 20 Watt AC-DC power supplies that are suitable for low-power PCB-mounted applications.
Measuring just 67 x 40 x 18,6 mm, delivering a power density of 0,4 Watts per cubic centimetre, and with efficiency up to 87%, the units are ideally suited to designs where space is at a premium.
The series comprises a total of 11 models – eight single output and three dual output versions. Single output units cover the nominal voltages of 3,3, 5, 9, 12, 24, 30 and 48 V d.c. Dual output models provide ±12, ±15 or ±24 V d.c. With a low no-load power consumption of less than 0,3 W, the ECP20 can assist in meeting the requirements of low standby power consumption applications and several energy saving initiatives such as Energy Star and EISA.
The units are also suitable for applications requiring a short duration of higher output power. All models have a peak load capability that can provide 130% of rated output power for a maximum of 30 seconds. In this way, design engineers need not specify a more expensive, higher wattage power supply just to accommodate such short peak load conditions.
The ECP20 series can operate across a wide range of temperatures, from 0°C to +50°C without derating and up to +70°C with derating. No additional heatsinking or forced air flow is required for the power supply to deliver its full power capability. The series has a Class II input, meaning that no grounding is required, so suits portable equipment designs, or where a reliable ground source is not always available. External filtering components are not required since the power supplies already meet EN55022, level B for conducted and radiated EMC. All models carry the internationally recognised EN and UL safety approvals.
