Barometric pressure sensors

24 June 2009 Test & Measurement

Epcos has extended its series of ASB1200 gel-protected barometric pressure sensors to include new types that feature calibrated analog interfaces. The heart of the new ASB1200V1 and ASB1200VR sensors is a piezoresistive sensor chip, which is mounted in hybrid technology together with the ASIC. Both types offer integrated signal processing. The ASB1200V1 provides an output voltage of 0 to 1 V, while the ASB1200VR delivers a ratiometric output voltage of 10 to 90% of the operating voltage.

The sensors are designed specifically for low voltage applications that require the pressure measurement in moist media. They are optimised for an absolute pressure measurement of 300 to 1200 mbar and operate from a supply voltage between 2,7 and 5,5 V. Minimum response time is 1 ms. The sensors’ 4 x 4 x 2,5 mm package features a gel-protected stainless steel pressure port, which is suitable for integration in IP54 applications.
