75 Ω BNC system for 3G SDI

10 June 2009 Interconnection

The emergence of the 3 Gbps 3G serial digital interface (3G SDI) which enables uncompressed digital transfer of 1080p and digital cinema has once again brought interconnect signal integrity considerations to the forefront of high-speed system design. Samtec has employed its signal integrity expertise to help address these high-speed requirements with the development of a family of BNC connectors optimised for 3G SDI communications.

Samtec’s True75 BNC connectors (BNC7T Series) are a tested and proven 75 Ω ±3 Ω system. They are available in edge mount straight bulkhead jack for 0,062” and 0,093” boards, through-hole straight jack, and through-hole right angle bulkhead jack orientations. Also available is a True75 RG6 coax cable plug (RF6 Series) in straight and right angle orientations.

In addition to high-speed products such as these True75 BNC connectors, Samtec has complete design, manufacturing, testing and verification capabilities for 3G SDI applications as well as reference designs, test data, and Final Inch and Final Launch PCB design tools to help streamline and optimise 3G SDI designs.
