Non-isolated DC-DC converters

27 May 2009 Power Electronics / Power Management

To meet the demands of applications requiring low cost and small size, Mean Well has launched a new style of single-output non-isolated DC-DC converters dubbed the NID30 (30 W) and NID60 (60 W) series.

These regulated converters have a standard SIP pin configuration and are vertically mounted onto the target printed circuit board.

Employing synchronised rectification technology, the converters have up to 97% efficiency and high power density, and hence can be cooled by only free air convection from -25°C to 65°C. Measuring 50,8 x 13 x 10,7 mm for the 30 W variant and 50,8 x 25 x 10,7 mm for the 60 W version, the converters are suitable for space-constrained applications.

Input DC voltage range is 20 to 53 V, thereby covering the popular DC bus voltages of 24 and 48 V, while the output voltages available are 5, 12, 15 and 24 V. Features include low ripple noise, and protection for short circuit, overload and over-voltage. Distributed power architecture, communication and industrial control are amongst the target applications.
