The R&S ZVL3 75 from Rohde & Schwarz offers a wide range of functions, compact design, low weight and optional battery-powered operation, and is targeted at applications for TV, CATV and satellite TV components and systems.
As an all-purpose instrument for development, production, installation and maintenance, the R&S ZVL3 75 is best suited for passive component measurements such as determining the impedance of filters and cables. Other prime applications include standard amplifier and antenna matching measurements during system installations. The two-port bidirectional network analyser, with a frequency range from 9 kHz to 3 GHz, enables complete system error correction. Consequently, it can perform high-precision S-parameter measurements on 75 Ω devices.
A power measurement option turns the R&S ZVL3 75 into a three-in-one instrument. As a network analyser, for example, it provides the S-parameters of a DUT. Using its spectrum analysis function, it can measure the spectral components of an amplifier as well as adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR) or third-order intermodulation (TOI). When used with an external power sensor, it can also measure absolute power. Measurements in the time domain (TDR, distance-to-fault) help users locate cable faults during installation work.
The R&S ZVL3 75 can be operated with either front-panel keys or with a mouse and keyboard, and it has a port for connecting an external monitor. To allow users to evaluate a large number of test parameters in parallel, it can display up to 100 traces and diagrams simultaneously, and lets users switch quickly between preloaded setups.
