Fibre-optic testing for CWDM networks

29 April 2009 Test & Measurement

JDSU has released a coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) series of OTDR modules for its T-BERD/MTS-8000 and T-BERD/MTS-6000 platforms.

This solution combines several new features into one OTDR test solution for short- and medium-haul CWDM network applications. The CWDM solution complements the existing range of OTDR modules within the T-BERD/MTS family and enables users to deploy network services in one convenient package.

The CWDM OTDR solution was developed to help cable operators, dark fibre providers and telecommunications service providers characterise, maintain and troubleshoot CWDM fibre networks comprehensively. Users can test new wavelength routes not yet in use without disrupting communications traffic on active wavelengths.
